Deadline December 11

Help Keep Hemp Legal

A federal hemp ban takes effect December 11. Congress can still extend the deadline and pass the bipartisan Lawful Hemp Protection Act. It takes about thirty seconds to tell your own representatives where you stand.

The Stakes

What the Ban Actually Does

The 2018 Farm Bill made hemp and its derivatives federally legal below a THC threshold. The provision taking effect December 11 narrows that definition sharply enough that most hemp-derived products on the market today would no longer qualify. The figures below are the Hemp Industry Farmers Alliance's estimates of the impact.

Roughly 95% of the market disappears

The Hemp Industry Farmers Alliance estimates the ban would eliminate about 95% of the hemp retail market. That includes nearly every product we make: our THCA flower, our pre-rolls, and our live rosin gummies.

Demand moves to untested products

Prohibition does not remove demand, it removes oversight. Buyers lose access to the third-party COAs, batch testing, and organic certification that let them verify what they are actually consuming.

Around 500,000 jobs are exposed

The alliance puts the hemp-derived consumer sector at roughly $70 billion in value and upwards of 500,000 American jobs, including farm and processing work in North Carolina.

What You Are Asking For

The letter makes two requests of your members of Congress:

  1. 1

Support a two-year extension of the current hemp deadline, so the industry and regulators have time to build a real framework instead of a cliff.

  2. 2

Co-sponsor the Lawful Hemp Protection Act, the bipartisan bill introduced by Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY) and Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN).

This is advocacy, not legal advice. Nothing here changes what is legal to buy or possess where you live. For questions about your own orders, our FAQ and team are the right place to start.

Where We Stand

We are a family-run farm in North Carolina growing USDA Certified Organic hemp, seed to sale. We have an obvious stake in this: the ban would take most of our catalog off the shelf. We are telling you about it anyway, because the people it affects most are the ones who chose tested, certified products in the first place.
